TorqShift™ 5-Speed Automatic Transmission

This Fall-of-2002-Transmission was designed to handle the greater power delivered by the 6.0 Liter Power Stroke. The transmission has an improved torque converter designed to improve low end power. A new and larger pump improves lubrication and cooling. New gear and clutch materials improve durability. An external spin on filter allows easy maintenance. Electronics optimize the electro-mechanical shifts for better performance. A "tow/haul" mode selector eliminates unwanted gear search on steep grades. Also, the engine and transmission work together to control downhill speed.
