Ford is stepping forward in engine power and emissions. The new 5.4L 3Valve SOHC Triton engine boosts performance to 300 hp and 365 ft-lb's of torque.
This is a great engine for the F-150 trucks. Variable camshaft timing improves performance for light and heavy loads by adjusting timing characteristics. Charge Motion Control Valves are placed in the intake to create a 'tumble' effect in intake gases to improve fuel ignition. They make a big difference at low RPM. Electronic Throttle Control is now smarter and provides a smoother pull. The engine is a Flex-Fuel E85 engine.

Ford Created the first FFV engines in 1908. The Model-T was designed to allow farmers to burn gasoline or ethanol. By 1927 dashboard controls allowed the driver to adjust the mix of or switch to either gas or ethanol. Ford has a history with Flix-Fuel engines. What other company has used this technology for almost 100 years. Ford's F-150 Trucks are following a long tradition. (For more information follow this link: Ford Flix-Fuel and E85.
Mileage ratings for FFV (Flix-Fuel-Vehicles) supplied by the government vary from what most of us are used to. Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) MPG is relaxed to be a measure of the gasoline used rather than a measure of fuel consumption. So a CAFE rating may be 33 mpg while the EPA rating is 15 mpg. The EPA rating reflects the gallons of fuel leaving the tank while CAFE is more representative of the actual 'gasoline' used. This can get confusing so the term Volumetric Fuel Economy is some times used to to compare mileage for gallons of gasoline and gallons of E85 fuel. However one refers to it Ford F-150 Trucks can use E85 fuels*.
The 2007 Ford F-150 received a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for frontal impact crash tests and that is for both driver and passenger.

Ford F-150's Boxed Frame Rails
For superior handling and strength Ford's F-150 Trucks use fully boxed frame rails. The frame is hydro formed to improve strength. Hydro forming improves stiffness and allows the metals to better resists bending forces. The boxed frame makes a very noticeable difference on rough roads, quieting the truck and reducing vibration transmitted to the passenger area.
Enjoy the luxury of a Ford - built tough.
